Area of Production Montepulciano (Si)
Variety of Grapes: 80% Sangiovese and Prugnolo Gentile, 20% Mammolo, Colorino, Merlot and Cabernet-Sauvignon.
Characteristics of the Vineyard:
Soil is a medium tuffaceous mixture with some skeleton. Facing south at 260/320 metres above sea level.
Vines per hectare: in the older vineyards, 3,500, in the new ones 6,500
Production Method:
grapes are handpicked with careful selection from the end of September to early October. Fermentation in vats with 25 days’ macerating at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Two years in small and medium sized casks of French oak in our underground cellars at constant temperature. After bottling another 6 months in an air conditioned environment.
Suggestions for Serving:
with traditional Tuscan dishes, red meat, game and mature cheeses. A wine for meditation.
